Hop on an eco-friendly Segway for a convenient tour of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park! You'll see all 1,000-plus acres of the park as you learn the rich history of this majestic San Francisco green space on a narrated journey. This unique tour is the perfect way to see Golden Gate Park and its hidden gems.

Riding a Segway is similar to riding a bike. It's intuitive, but nobody is born knowing how to operate it. You'll have 20 - 25 minutes of training prior to beginning the tour so you can get familiar with the most innovative transportation device of the millennium. You will practice on the Segway until everyone feels comfortable and ready to tour Golden Gate Park!

  • SEGWAY RIDER REQUIREMENTS:
  • All guests must be age 12 or older.
  • All guests must weigh between 100-250 lbs or 45-113 kilos.
  • NOTE: We have a scale on site and check minimum weights for safety of all of our guests. Underweight guests will not be refunded or rescheduled.
  • Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the tour.
  • No pregnant guests are allowed due to safety reasons.
  • This activity is not recommended for some guests that are: ages 70 years and older, have had recent surgeries or have motor skill/control issues.
  • Each customer must sign a Liability Waiver.
  • Helmets and safety vests are provided and are required.
  • All participants must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without assistance
  • No high heels, sandals or flip flops.
  • Face masks provided for travellers
  • Hand sanitiser available to travellers and staff
  • Social distancing enforced throughout experience

  • We are an outdoor activity. Masks highly encouraged while guests are in training area and in close proximity to guides and other guests. Masks are optional for guests once out on tour route.
What To Expect

Golden Gate Park
The seven mile (11.2 km) tour route explores the eastern section of the 1017 acre (411ha) park on winding trails and bike routes.

Music Concourse
The Music Concourse with 3 fountains and Temple of Music are the starting location for the Segway tour. The DeYoung and California Academy are located in the Music Concourse

Conservatory of Flowers
The magnificent Victorian glass wood framed conservatory was erected in 1879 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Segway tour travels to the front entrance with expansive views of the surrounding cultivated flower beds and sculptures. A perfect iconic backdrop for Park visitor photos. Photo stop outside.

de Young Museum
In its stunning copper clad building and distinctive tower the de Young showcases American art from the 17th through the 21st centuries, international contemporary art, textiles, and costumes, and art from the Americas, the Pacific and Africa.

California Academy of Sciences
Delivering the wonders of land, space, and water in one amazing museum building. Academy offers an aquarium, planetarium, natural history museum and 3D theater. Known for its living roof featuring native wildflowers and grasses. Highly recommended for a visit before or after your Park Tour

Dahlia Garden
Next to the Conservatory of Flowers is the Dahlia Garden. This location celebrates the official flower of San Francisco with a diverse spread of varieties and colors. Peak season is August and September. Photo stop.

Japanese Tea Garden
The Japanese Tea Garden was established to showcase a Japanese Village for the 1894 California Midwinter International Exposition and is the oldest public Japanese Garden in all of the United States. Photo stop outside.

Stow Lake
Starting in 1893 Stow Lake has been the destination for romantic row boat rides, pink popcorn, picnics and wildlife viewing. One of the sites is Huntington Waterfall cascades down Strawberry Hill and spilling into Stow Lake.

McLaren lodge
Built in 1896, the McLaren Lodge was for 47 years the home of John McLaren, the Park Superintendent and caretaker of Golden Gate Park. In front of the Lodge is a Monterey cypress nicknamed ā€˜Uncle Johnā€™s Treeā€™ and for 80 year has been San Francisco's official holiday tree.

National AIDS Memorial Grove
At this inspirational plot of trees, flowers, rocks, memorials, meadows, and scenes of natural beauty, visitors come to seek strength, share stories, and create memories that heal. Tour stops here and guests may choose to explore on foot Dogwood Crescent, where the Circle of Friends resides. The Grove serves as an important sanctuary for all to enjoy.

Golden Gate Park Carousel
Originally steam powered - the current jewel is a 1914 beauty. This is the 3rd carousel to be located in the Park. The Carousel is next to the Koret Childrenā€™s Quarter (formally the Childrenā€™s Playground) and Sharon Meadows.

Shakespeare Garden
Shakespeareā€™s Flower Garden is a themed garden of plants and flowers mentioned within the works of William Shakespeare. Bronze plaques engraved with notable quotations accompany the floral arrangements. Photo stop.

This was our second time on the tour and was even better than our first time! Zack, our guide was amazing, knowledgeable and so personable and friendly. This is a must-do activity if youā€™re visiting San Francisco. Ten stars!!!!
