What To Expect

Golden

The City of Golden was the seat of the Colorado Gold Rush and at the forefront of the Wild West, and we have our share of spirits still lingering around to prove it. Your tour guide will tell you the stories of these restless souls as you traverse the town at night, starting from historic Goosetown Station. You'll walk into town through the ghostly parks along Clear Creek then up Washington Avenue for a mid-cap. The second half of the tour will take you up 12th Street, Golden's old white-collar district, and ends in the back yard of the Astor House where you can choose one last stop for a night-cap.

I went with several friends recently - we did the "pub crawl" history tour with Chris, the owner. He was a hoot! He was passionate, informational, enthusiastic, and professional. I grew up in Lakewood, CO (now in my mid 20s) and went to Golden often, but never as if I were a tourist. I highly recommend the tour to those interested in the mid-1800s time period (and onward) and as a fun way to see the area in a new way. We had just enough time at each brewery to enjoy the included beer or tasters and Chris could have talked for hours. (Actually, with our encouragement and offers of beer, he stayed long to tell us even more!) He was animated, hospitable, and hilarious. This was a real treat - definitely worth the time and cash. I think I will take my parents this summer. Thanks again, Chris!
