The hotel was clean and nice, we did the dinner and breakfast at Train station and it was good food and great service, Boarded train in March snow storm which was a great fun on Train (upgrade to viewing car) to a clear sky at Grand Canyon with bus tour, stayed over night at El Tovar which had amazing food and service. This gave us all day to explore the canyon South Rim...AMAZING.. boarded train back with live music in our car and even got robbed by some bandits ( part of train ride ) ... I would do it again!!!!

I have been to the Grand Canyon many times over the years. We have always driven and stayed either in Flagstaff or at the canyon itself. This time I found a trip going to Williams, AZ and spending the night at the hotel and taking the train to the south rim. What a great trip! The whole set-up worked out for the 5 of us to go. They are so organized at the hotel upon check-in, the dinner and breakfast buffet was excellent and the train ride was so nice because it doesn't go fast and everyone can enjoy the scenery. Kathy, with a "K" was a great hostess in our train car. Gave us much information, had games planned that involved all ages and she was extremely helpful for making the most of the time we had to spend at the south rim. The singer and other entertainment was very good also. Well worth it!

The train ride to and from the grand canyon was amazing! We had a wonderful time and Kathy with a K did a great job keeping us entertained on the way up and back from the Grand Canyon. It was a great way to see the grand canyon, I would also recommend taking the tour when you get there as well, as you don't have a lot of time to sight see. The tour allows you to see two of the most beautiful spots offered at the grand canyon. Plus, we had a three year old with us and it terrified me to think that we would be walking around that much, when most of the grand canyon is open and not very much is between you and the canyon. The hotel was just okay, I would recommend staying at the Ramada down the street instead. Front desk staff was not friendly, room did not have any hand soap in it for use after the bathroom ( they have three bottles locked in the shower, shampoo, conditioner and body wash-which was great for the environment, but we wash our hands after using the bathroom) I went up to the front desk to see if they had any bar soap that I would be able to have for us to use after using the bathroom and was told that she wasn't sure that they had any. I asked her then to please check if she wouldn't mind because I don't enjoy not washing my hands after using the washroom. She ended up finding a bar of soap for us to have, but it was like pulling teeth to get one. Also, we used the pool and they were out of towels. An older lady that was in there a few minutes before us said she would go up to the front desk to see about replacement towels. She was told by the front desk that "I guess we are out of them" and told to walk to her room which was on the complete opposite side of the pool and obtain her bath towels. This lady was probably 70 years old, I don't believe that was the correct response to a paying customer. Also, make sure to have cash to tip the servers in the cafe. Our package included dinner and breakfast and they do not have cash back or anything, you need to use the ATM which was fine but when we asked for change from the front desk of the cafe, we were told to go to the gift shop counter. Then, we were told by the gift shop counter that they didn't think they had change. They made it really hard to want to tip the servers, whom did a wonderful job. It was just frustrating that you had to go to that much trouble to leave a tip. The breakfast morning staff was wonderful and friendly. We paid $650 for a 1 night package, not sure it was worth it.
