We took the tour to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, our driver Anthony was absolutely amazing with his wealth of knowledge of just about everything he was asked, including the Hoover dam, the canyon, the small settlements we drove through etc. He knew names, dates and didn't read a thing (we know because we sat right behind him). On the way to the Canyon we made a 20 min stop at the Hoover dam for pictures and a history lesson from Anthony. He even took us to a lookout overlooking Meade Lake and the marina for a few quick pics which was not a scheduled stop (Thanks Anthony). We continued on to the Canyon where we were given instructions in what was about to transpire from Anthony leaving us with no doubt or confusion. There are 3 areas to visit, the 1st being a replica old town with a jail, saloon, etc. where u can eat, horse back riding and zip lining. Once u are ready to leave for the 2nd area, you hop on a bus tram. The second stop is the Skywalk which cost an extra 25 bucks to walk out over the cliff on a glass bridge. We had tickets and were next in line to go out when they closed it down due to lightening in the air. We told Anthony who called Linda and all we had to do was call her for the refund which was smooth and painless. The 3rd stop is the best view of the canyon, it overlooks the Colorado River and is breath taking for pictures. You can also take a helicopter from here to see it for an extra cost. Your lunch is provided and you can eat at either of the 3 spots that have different menus. All in all it was a great experience and great value for your money. Highly recommended the canyon and its a must if you have never been there. Sweet Tours offer comfortable, big buses with free bottles of water and if you are lucky enough to get our driver Anthony, then its a home run...Thank you Sweet Tours, Linda and of course our man Anthony. Will certain travel with this Tour Company again and highly recommend them.

We started with a Hotel pickup at 6:40 am. The driver on the first bus told us that we would be transferred to another bus in about 15 minutes and that we'll be getting breakfast in another bus. The driver was very rude to a non-american passenger. When we got off, we were told to go three different buses, each time the drivers were getting more and more irritated that we were being sent to them. Finally, one of the drivers showed us the bus number we were supposed to get on, and we made onto the right bus - a half hour later. After that it went pretty smooth sailing. We got the last seats on the bus - right in front of the restroom. The entire time, all we could smell was the potty. The drive to the Grand Canyon was LONG. We stopped at Hoover dam with the two different time zones which was cool.. but by the time we made to the Grand Canyon it was exactly 2:30. We had about 3 hours to explore by ourselves. Bus came back at 5:30 and two more stops later, we were back at our hotel by 9:30. Our bus driver was really great and kept us entertained for hours with 3 different movies.

The breakfast and provided lunch was very good and we had plenty of water so that was nice. I didn't like the drive time, nor the restroom deal. If i were to do this again, i'd probably pick a tour anywhere between 9 hours to - 12 hours.

We had two issues to be aware of. The buses need some work. There were many broken seats on our bus and our window would not close properly so their was wind leaking in. It was January when we went so it was NOT warm outside. The second issue was dinner. Breakfast and lunch are provided with the tour and we were impressed with what we got. But dinner was at the truck stop where we refueled on the way back and it was Subway or convenience store food as your choice. Sandwiches for lunch and dinner is not healthy nor something we enjoy. Our driver was Wally and he was excellent. We had several entertaining and instructional DVDs on the trip. For us this was a scouting trip. You get about 3 hours at the Grand Canyon and at least half of that was spent on the shuttle buses between points in the park. We had 15 minutes at Hoover Dam. Since this was a scouting trip this was fine as we now know what to do on our next visit to these locations. But take the timing into account for your own needs. We plan to return to Hoover Dam later this trip. The Grand Canyon will require a dedicated several-day stay at or near the park.
