I booked the South Rim bus tour through a booking agency (GC Tours) which used Sweetours for the actual tour. While I booked a bus tour, I ended up in a van with no bathroom. Could I have asked at any time to stop if need be? Yes. Were there large stretches of road with no bathroom in sight? Yes. Was the ride so rough at times it would be impossible to sleep? Yes.
The tour page mentioned breakfast snacks and coffee/tea available. When I asked about coffee when I was handed the breakfast the driver laughed. Not a good start and things went downhill from there. The stop at the Route 66 souvenir shop was nice. To kill time inbetween stops, they showed a Hoover Dam documentary twice; the speakers made the audio hard to make out and the subtitles were in a foreign language. And the Hoover Dam was not a stop on the tour.
Then the van had a tire blowout. There was smoke and fumes in the van. "Fortunately" the tire was an inside tire so we were able to drive with hazards on to the next town. We were stuck at a truck stop with just a Subway, Carl's Jr and convenience store. Originally we were told it would be 1.5 hrs to fix - it took 3 hours and we were not kept informed at all. By the time we got to the Grand Canyon it was not long before dark and were told we would still have 3 hours there. There wasn't enough time to visit the different vantage points originally advertised. After dark there was nothing to do besides look at the souvenir shop since there was little lighting in the area, the museum closed before dark, and the restaurant required 1.5 hours advanced booking. Eventually we were able to get in touch with the driver to get the van book sooner since we had nothing to do.
On the ride back the vent was blowing cold air even though it was freezing out (there was snow on the ground). Eventually at one of the stops the heater started working. The driver let us try our luck at a McDonald's to get dinner (it was after 9pm) but the van couldn't fit at the drive-thru and they wouldn't take our order. We ended up back at the same truck stop although the driver did not seem to want to stop. I called the company to request at least a partial refund and was only given excuses.

Hello Davewise, I am so sorry for the unfortunate circumstances that occurred during your South Rim tour. It is not a typical experience that occurs on our tours, and much of what happened during this tour was out of our control, the flat tiref and onset of darkness primarily. Again, I apologize. Despite the calamities that occurred, your driver/guide really wanted to ensure that you view the South Rim as you had already traveled so far, thus, her goal was to really try hard and provide her guests with a Grand Canyon experience, which I agree was shorter than the expected hours, but fortunately you and everyone else had the opportunity to see it. For this reason, and because the booking was made through a 3rd party vendor, any kind of refund is not practical; however, we would like to provide you with an attractive compromise, that is, a complimentary tour for two during your next visit to Las Vegas, which can be used by either yourself and partner, or another friend or family member. Once again, sincere apologies for this negative tour experience. One more thing to mention. Yes, you traveled in a smaller vehicle without a restroom, however, our drivers still plan on limited stops, and if more or required, they expect to be alerted by the individuals. Apologize one more time regarding the coffee amenity....due to COVID, we had to terminate "pre-pandemic service and yes, we failed to alert our vendors. Thanks again for your feedback and feel free to contact us if you have additional questions.
