We took the trip today, 25 Nov 19
Picked up at the Excalibur. Driven a mile or so (5 mins only, so not far) to the main depot to pick up our bus driven by Wally. The journey there and back was long but then you knew that in advance so we were prepared for it. (Previous wingers). Reasonable breakfast and lunch supplied. Some OJ was frozen but what the hell, it thawed.
Wally kept us well entertained a good bit of the journey. I have to say for a man from South London he was very well read with his excellent knowledge of the history of the area.
It was bloody freezing and the blue route bus was packed and we never got on 3 before we gave up so just be prepared.
We just stayed around bright angel lodge which was sufficient for viewing so if you donāt get the local bus donāt worry.
The journey back was ok with Wally chatting but mostly putting on films which was entertaining. We noticed from a previous review that someone complained about Wally playing the films too loud so obviously he turned it down but unfortunately too low lol. Note to management, get Wally to check with his audience if they can all hear it. Just a little fault in an otherwise enjoyable day and made all the better for Wally driving.
