The half day tour is $99 dollars and visits three stops, easily accessible on your own. At the second stop you spend 1/2 hour or more listening to a novice and boring discussion about the geology of the canyon. The geology is fascinating but not when told by Canyon Dave tours. You can learn more on your own and save $99. Waste of a half day.

Three girlfriends and I spent a day with Dora of Canyon Dave Tours on March 29th, 2010. It was our first time seeing the Grand Canyon, and we were very glad we booked an educational tour. We drove from Sedona and caught the van in Flagstaff. Dora was very gracious, welcoming and patient. She is a former park ranger, with a wide breadth of knowledge regarding the flora, fauna and geology of the Grand Canyon region. She answered all questions throughly, and has a great love and enthusiasm for this region of the country. We stopped at numerous points on the South Rim for viewing, pictures and talks, then went to the Navaho reservation for lunch (fry bread is a must try!), and finished with time in the Painted Desert and at Sunset Crater. We loved that someone else was driving, leaving us all the luxury of viewing the beautiful scenery and taking pictures, while helping us understand the unique nature of the canyons, craters and other landscape in this area. We came away with a real appreciation of the history, people and life in this part of the country. We all felt it was a wonderful day at a reasonable price!
