We have been to the South Rim and we're disappointed in the Sky Walk on the West Rim. We visited October 25th. There were long lines and constant standing for over an hour. The Sky Walk is a "rim" not a platform. They say you can stay as long as you want, but once you have looked down and out, there is nothing more to see.

The overall experience of seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time can’t be overstated. The Sky Walk was interesting, but maybe a bit overrated. Just the awesomeness of the Canyon itself made the trip worth it. A little uneasiness seeing people get dangerously close to the edge, but no one died during our visit. Facilities were clean and the crowds well managed, but finding out the cafe at Eagles Point was closed for remodeling was a disappointment. The food at Guano Point was good, but the offerings at the Zip-line stop were inedible. We splurged for the all too brief helicopter ride to the canyon floor, but we all agreed it was worth it. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Western Rim through Viator. Our advice is to drive on your own if you can and arrive early to avoid the tour bus crowds.

We were a group of 12. When we arrived the parking attendant was nice and that’s where it ended. Due to our large group we split up in 3 different groups as there were lots of people there that day. Each group had negative experiences during our time there. From the man at the ticket counter to the lady at the scenic overlook photo counter it was a bad experience. I wouldn’t recommend going to this area of the Grand Canyon if you are looking for a positive experience.
