Granite Reef Kayaking Trip on the Lower Salt River

Overview
The trip is a scenic, unguided, four and a half hour kayaking journey down the Lower Salt River. Starting at Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch, you and your group will kayak down a leisurely thirteen mile stretch of river as it moves it's way through the Tonto National Forest. Participants often witness wild horses, otters, birds and other wildlife that cool off in the river during the summer months.

We have the special privilege of being the only kayak rental company located right on the Salt River, so our trips launch directly from our site which you are returned to via shuttle after your trip. Each reservation includes a kayak rental, paddle, PFD and return shuttle to starting site.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to launch time so you may complete waivers, prepare belongings, receive safety orientation prior to the scheduled launch time.  Water, sunscreen and dry bags are for sale. Orientation is mandatory and includes basic paddling, water safety and geography of the river.

Daughter and son-in-law visiting from Florida. They said they had the best kayak trip ever. I cannot believe how many wild horses were actually in the water! We saw a majestic bald eagle on the river right next to a herd of wild horses! I’d been trying to get my husband to kayak for 38 years... he’s now wondering why he never did it before. Awesome experience!

This was a birthday present I gave my wife and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. I would recommend this 2 hour trip to anyone who has never done this kind of excitement before. Very relaxing as you float and take in the beautiful area. We even saw the wild horses which were in the river as well.

Serene, peaceful, beautiful views, and a variety of wildlife to observe made this a memorable activity for my wife and I. As new kayakers, we mostly avoided whatever small rapids there were, but we were wishing by the end that we had been a bit more adventurous. :)
