What To Expect

Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park is legendary. You’ve seen it in a ton of films, it’s the unofficial campus of NYU students and you’ll see some of the coolest people in the city here. Feed pigeons. Hear musicians and watch street performers. You never know what to expect. Oh except for the mighty arch which is, of course, renowned.

The Stonewall Inn

The Stonewall Inn is such a huge historical site - literally and figuratively. We pass by the prideful institution as well as its new statue which was installed to commemorate it’s 50th anniversary.

My friend and I really enjoyed this tour. I do a food tour in almost every city I visit and this was one of the good ones, and a fantastic value! Dante clearly enjoys giving these tours and keeping the groups small means he gets to interact with each participant. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it - we had to take our cupcake from the final stop to go, we were so full. I appreciated that there were different types of food, and he had great tips about the area. I appreciated that he is a small business operator - I always try to support small, local businesses whenever possible. It also allows him a lot of flexibility when giving the tours. Honestly, our only regret was that we weren't in town long enough to do the East Village tour, too!

Dammit, Dante! If only we had knows about this tour earlier in our trip, we could have saved ourselves from (shudder) Bubba Gump's!! What a fantastic tour of an area most first timers like us would have easily overlooked. Great conversation, amazing food (my distain on veggies would have precluded me from experiencing the life changing artichoke pizza), and fantastic company. Dante was the consummate pro, mixing great conversation with enough history and factoids that it really seemed like a stroll down a neighborhood where your college buddy lives. Couldn't recommend this experience more, and take this tour early in your stay in NYC and save yourself from the tourist traps and enjoy some real local 'good eats'

My husband and I love to visit NYC but we typically spend most of our time around midtown and the theater district. This tour was a great way to venture out and see more of the city. Tour guide Dante is a local New Yorker, but still, a really nice guy! He’s funny, friendly, open and honest about the city. He’s extremely knowledgeable about his city and the various neighborhoods. This tour was outstanding because it combined outstanding samples of local food plus insider knowledge of Greenwich Village such as the crazy piano man of Washington Square Park or the location of Anderson Cooper’s incredible abode. Highly highly recommend! Don’t hesitate.
