Guided Full Day Alpine Adventure in the Chugach Wilderness - Introductory Level

Overview
Join us for an incredible introductory alpine trip/course! On our way up to brilliant, panoramic views, we pass through a mixture of valley, forest, and alpine scrub terrain.

This guided alpine adventure is 1 part tour, 1 part course, and is meant to teach a basic set of introductory level alpine skills while showcasing some of our favorite trails in the Chugach. Our experienced guides will focus on safety while they cover the basics of wilderness first aid skills, use of specialty gear like ice axes, harness and ropes, knot tying basics, how to prepare and pack a backpack, food and meal prep, emergency shelters and equipment, and recognizing potentially hazardous terrain/calling "no-go" scenarios.

Why take this alpine adventure course with us? This is the essential trip/course for anyone wanting to learn more skills and feel more confident leading themselves and their companions out into a wilderness setting while experiencing the adventure of a lifetime in Alaska's wilderness.

What To Expect
1
Chugach State Park
This tour is an easy/moderate half-day hike, and runs for 4-6 hours into the great wild beauty of Anchorageā€™s backyard backcountry. It is a gentler hike with great views while trekking along our majestic valley floors. This hike requires the physical stamina and strength to hike for a half day anywhere from 2 to 6 miles while carrying a 5-10 pound pack over a mixture of rough and smooth terrain. We have several trails in our local Chugach State Park which offer up amazing hikes to experience in both summer & winter landscapes. Some are ascents on Mountain ridges, while others are gentler walks in forested trails and alpine valleys. Along the way we will discuss local flora, fauna, geology, and history of the area. You can take a moment to enjoy the majestic beauty of our backcountry and fully immerse yourself in the moment. Bring a camera-we adhere to the "leave no trace" philosophy-take only pictures and memories, leave only footprints.
