Was supposed to be at least a 1 hour ride. We were done after 45 minutes. The guide was sweet but very young. She told us very little about where we were and what we were seeing. Could have been much more interesting with more information. All staff on site were very young (under 25) with average people skills. My 2 grandchildren were to have a ring ride while I was on the Azalea trail but there was no horse or chaperone available. They scrambled to find a 35 year old horse and instead of 30 minutes per child they had a 15 minute ring ride instead. Very disappointed

Dear Michael, I'm sorry you were disappointed. Sometimes a Guide isn't as talkative as they could be. But I'm grateful you enjoyed the views. Regarding the ring ride, when you made the reservation I told you that you were responsible for leading the children around in the ring and that's what was booked. This is why the older horse is used since he is very reliable for guests to manage. I would be happy to provide you with another ring ride for your grandchildren for as long as you want to lead them that would be free. But you would be responsible for leading them around in the ring not the staff. I also recommended you have 2 adults to lead the small children, 1 to lead the horse and 1 to walk beside the child holding his/her leg because 2 and 3 year olds balance needs assistance. Then a third adult to remain with the second child waiting his turn. We are too busy in the mornings to be able to do that but we do supervise. And, yes, it will be the older horse because he is very easy to handle, small - so not intimidating for kids - and great with the children (always has been from birth - he was born on the farm).

As an experienced rider I can say that Arrowmont Stables really knows how to accommodate all levels of riders. They even let you choose a different horse if you feel like the horse they choose for you is not a good match. The views from the trails are spectacular. Their horses are well mannered and the guides are delightful. Thanks Dave, Lizzy and Stormy.

The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They are very good at instructing new riders and making sure that everyone is paired with the right horse. We will definitely be returning to see the other trails that this place has to offer. The trails are well maintained and the views on the trail are beautiful. The horses are also well cared for and behave well with the riders.
