Join us on a beautiful drive up the Knik Arm to the historic Musk Ox Farm located in the picturesque Matanuska Valley.
Enjoy a comfortable ride as your guide shares fun facts about the flora, fauna & favorite local legends of the area on a scenic drive North of Anchorage to the Musk Ox Farm, nestled amongst the Chugach & Talkeetna Mountains, about 50 minutes from downtown. At the farm, experts will take you on a 45-minute walking tour, educating you on the 60-year legacy of the farm and millions of years of history of the Ice Age “Oomingmak”. Learn about the sustainable domestication of Musk Oxen in our region & the importance of qiviut (kiv’-ee-ute), the finest wool in the world. Learned lots of interesting facts about the musk ox! The highlight was being able to see the 6 day old calf, Benedict! So cool!

My granddaughter and I really loved this tour. The musk ox farm was interesting and our guide was full of facts and information about each of the animals. Brittany from Escaping Anchorage that drove us out there was also entertaining and very knowledgeable about the area she drove us through.

My last day in Anchorage and I booked a tour to the Musk Ox farm in Palmer. What a fantastic experience. My escaping anchorage tour guide was sweet, personable, friendly. I loved her stories! The visit to the Musk Oxen was so worth it! Interesting animals with fun and unique personalities. So adorable! The farm itself is lush and green, so peaceful. Museum has the soft musk ox pelts for “petting”. I recommend this tour to everyone who loves animals. I had so much fun. Next year on my return, I'll definitely be taking another adventure with Escaping Anchorage.
