What To Expect

Sitka Sound Science Center

Our guide will discuss the role the famous Sitka Sound Science Center plays in researching sustainable fishing. If one of the salmon runs is occurring it is possible to see salmon jumping up the stream into the hatchery processing station.

St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral

Our guide will highlight the history, architecture, and significance of the Russian Orthodox Cathedral in the center of downtown Sitka. Note that this walking tour takes place entirely outside.

Perfect summary (1 hour) for getting to know Sitka. My family got off the cruise ship, took the free shuttle into town, and our guide Reid met us right there. Easy to find, fun way to see the Russian Orthodox cathedral.

My family and I had a lovely time on this tour! The Russian and Indigenous history of Sitka is fascinating and the Tour Guides were very insightful and fun to talk to. The tour length of 1 hour was also great for us since we planned a hiking tour on the same day and it allowed us to do both things.

We (my wife and I) did the Tour of Sitka. David, who is a local was our guide and he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and fun and brought the whole place alive! Loved the Russian history aspect too.
