The Sunrise Tour offers guests an opportunity of a lifetime to view the sunrise from atop Haleakala. The tour is an exciting and informative guided vehicle tour of Haleakala National Park and the Upcountry area. Our NAI Certified Interpretive Guides will share with our guests the thrilling Culture and History of Maui along the way. Once inside Haleakala National Park, our interpretive guides will explore themes such as the unique Geology and Ecology of the surrounding area. After sunrise, guests will have an opportunity to visit the historic towns of Makawao and Pa’ia.

Haleakala National Park

Enjoy an informative tour of Upcountry Maui, Haleakala National Park and a trip up to the summit. Admire views like no other in this world of the dormant crater as well as bicoastal views of Maui.

Kula

Maui’s rich farming and ranching history is still evident by the vast pastures that line the side of the mountain. Kula’s cool weather and rich volcanic soil make the area an ideal spot for a number of Lavender, Protea, and Macadamia Nut farms.

Makawao

The Hawaiian Cowboys or Paniolos have roots set deep in the town of Makawao. This small town still has hitching rails at storefronts just as the locals once used to tie up their horses.

Paia

Today Pa’ia is a popular surf destination, however, Pa’ia’s history is as intriguing as it is fascinating. Learn about how the Sugar Plantations shaped this town and the culture of the island, and how this small north shore town was once a gathering place for entertainment and fun.

The tour operator’s rep hung up on me while I was trying to get the information I needed for the tour I booked. The rep blamed the 3rd party booking company for allowing me to book a pickup where I was staying in South Maui. Maybe that’s partly the case, but they need to keep on them to fix the problem. After confirming that nobody from the tour company was coming to pick us up, that I’d have to get to the main pickup pint across the island by myself, the rep, after hearing my consternation and disappointment (done in polite language and without threats or shouting), must have assumed I was cancelling and told me abruptly that I needed to deal with the booking company, then hung up. I wasn’t going to cancel; I just needed to clarify when to be at the pickup point (the website and online ticket gave me a window rather than a “be there by” time). But, since it seems they don’t care about my business, I guess I’ll take it elsewhere.

Thank you for the feedback on your experience. Unfortunately due to our operations, specific information and details are not available by phone during our Sunrise hours. Our customer service staff is available from 7:30am-9:00pm for information regarding tours and reservations. Check our website during off hours for further information. Even though I had heard the sunrise was a must-do, I was skeptical. Getting up at an ungodly hour, arranging a reservation, and driving up a mountain in the dark sounded terrible. I’m so incredibly grateful that my husband pushed me to consider doing a tour and am so happy we chose Haleakala Bike for our tour. We did the classic sunrise tour, and it was amazing. We had to meet at the office, which was fine since it was only 30 minutes from our condo in Kihei due to our schedule not aligning for pickup, but that actually turned out great! I didn’t realize the schedule issue until the day before, but the office folks were so very helpful even though the mistake was totally on me. Our tour guide was fabulous and gave us lots of info but also some time to sleep. The sunrise itself was just amazing. I’m not going to try to describe it — no words would suffice. When we were done, we went to a cute restaurant in Paia for a delicious breakfast. They even sent a special car out to take us back to the office where we parked. The guides were just so warm and welcoming. You could tell they really love what they do. If I am ever in need to a tour again, I would 100% use this company!!
