We had a beautiful day hiking at Haleakala and learned a lot from our extremely knowledgeable guides Tim and Dave. I have to mention the order and pace of the two spectacular and biodiverse hikes we did which matched our late middle age abilities perfectly. A joyful check mark off the bucket list.

I recently went on the Haleakala Volcano tour with my family of 6, which included my 8-, 12-, 14-, and 15-year old children. Our tour guide, Daniel, was great at getting everyone introduced and comfortable with each other. The drive up to the top of the volcano was long and winding, but the views of the valley below were absolutely breathtaking. We were lucky enough to see several rainbows on the way up due to the light rain coming from the wet side of the volcano. Daniel made sure to stop a few times so that everyone could catch their breath and avoid getting sick. Once we reached the top of the volcano, the wind and cold were intense, so make sure you bring pants and a warm jacket. The view of the crater was really cool, and it felt like we were looking at another planet. Daniel also taught us about some of the rare plants that only grow on the volcano, and we were able to visit the state park shop. After touring the top of the volcano, we made our way down and stopped for lunch at The Lodge. The food was great and the grounds and gardens were beautiful. We also stopped in a local "cowboy" town to do some shopping for tourist souvenirs before heading back to our resort. Overall, I enjoyed the Haleakala Volcano tour, but it wasn't quite as fun as the waterfall tour we took with Hike Maui. The sudden change in temperature from the warm resort to the cold and windy top of the volcano was a bit challenging to prepare for. However, both tours had great guides and I would definitely recommend Hike Maui.
