Very good weather. On our drive up to the start of the ride, Kimo, our driver, provided a lot of local info on that portion of the Island as well as some of his personal stories. Having bikes with disk brakes is a must!

Tour guide was awesome, equipment was good quality and good condition. They even offer jackets, pants and backpacks (no extra cost) if you don’t come dressed for the cooler temps at the higher elevations. The views - especially the top portion where we started the ride - were beautiful. My only hesitation in giving a full five stars is that there is no separation between bike traffic and the cars on the road. This is not the fault of the tour company, it’s just how the route is. The entire ride is either on a narrow shoulder along the highway or in a few places where there is no shoulder, you have to share the lane with cars, and the cars have no room to pass when there is oncoming traffic. Road speeds are posted at 20-30 mph and well signed to alert drivers to the presence of bicyclists, but still if you aren’t used to riding so close to traffic, you might find this a ride a little nerve wracking. If you are a confident biker you will enjoy the trip very much. Keep in mind there are no bathrooms once you leave the meeting place, and also realize that you aren’t going to get a lot of exercise as this ride is 95% downhill.

The comedy act on the ride up was entertaining and informative. Great job! Unfortunately, the clouds rolled in, obstructing the view.
