My advice instead of taking this tour would be to plan ahead and buy your own pass into the national park and make the trip up to Haleakala yourself. The reason for this advice is not necessarily due to anything that the tour or tour guide could control, but it's because we did not see a sunset, we saw the beginning of a sunset and then a ton of clouds came in and covered the rest of the event (see photos). In speaking with some locals this seems to be more of the normal experience so you could save yourself a lot of money and disappointment by making the drive up yourself. The road up to Haleakala's summit is definitely curvy, but it's totally doable by a regular car as the street is completely paved the entire way and it's not so narrow that tour buses can't fit, so a regular car should have no problem with the drive. The breakfast provided on this tour was unfortunately not good. I think they should find a different spot to serve breakfast if possible but it definitely shouldn't be something you should consider when booking this because it's not good. The property that the breakfast is served on does have a lovely small garden you can walk through, which was nice. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining and the tour bus was very clean. I don't think I would take this particular tour again and would only suggest it if you are wildly uncomfortable making the drive yourself.
