Haleakala is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and dense clouds and rain are common. As a result, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed, and the tour operates rain or shine. Refunds will be granted only when the tour is cancelled for safety reasons.
The high altitude at the summit area may complicate health conditions and breathing difficulties. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with respiratory or heart conditions should consult their doctor prior to touring. Walk slowly and drink water to avoid dehydration. If you have gone scuba diving, you should wait at least 72 hours before going on this tour.

David did a great job telling us the history of Hawaii and Haleakala on the way to the crater and sunset tour. We were fortunate to have good weather on the way and even as we arrived at the ranger station and fog rolled in it was only a short while before it cleared away and allowed us to view a beautiful sunset. The transportation vehicle was very comfortable and practically new. Several other different tours we had taken had less than good suspension and comfort in the days before this one making for a rough ride. We appreciated David's knowledge and well travelled experience of the world very much. He made us feel like family with many conversations in route. Bring a jacket as the temperature was in the high 40's F and windy!

Our tour was a wonderful experience. The drive through the clouds and then about them was a breathtaking experience. Our drive was wonderful.

Preston was amazing! He did such a great job driving and his jokes were top tier (this is coming from a former jungle cruise skipper) thanks so much for everything! Make sure to bring warm clothes for the top! It was worth it to see the sun rise!!!! A Maui must do!
