Had a great experience with this company. Most bike companies will not actually bring you all the way up to top and rim of crater for sunrise and then bike ride down. These guys bring you to the top for sunrise with just enough time to get a prime viewing location. Then you bus back down about 20 minutes and get on your bike. We opted for self-guided tour so we could set our own pace. Traffic was very minimal that early in the morning going down the mountain. Bikes were well maintained and comfortable. I had my doubts about getting up at 2am but it was definitely worth the experience. There were windbreakers, rain pants, warm vests, gloves, and backpacks available before the ride started. So it is important to dress warm but they do have some equipment to help you out.

It a was majestic,awe-inspiring, otherworldly, and humbling experience. And it was bloody cold. But Jackie and Kieth were consummate professionals throughout it all. They used humor, knowledge, and experience to make sure everyone made it down the volcano in one piece. The bike tour was absolutely beautiful. It wasn't a technical challenge for my wife and I, so we enjoyed ourselves and bombed down the mountain. Personal victory, as we finished both first in the group and in under 90 minutes moving time. I probably won't do the Haleakalan sunrise again anytime soon, but I'd love to give that volcano another try. Thank you guys.

The sunrise tour was great fun. The guide, Bill, is a Maui native and seemed very knowledgeable. He made the whole morning comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable. The equipment was very good. The bikes were Kona hardtail mountain bikes with front shocks (not really necessary as this is a road ride with good quality pavement). The bikes have disk brakes which performed very well. The bikes seemed fairly heavily used but well maintained. No safety issues at all. If a potential rider has any biking experience at all do not bother with the guided downhill. I think it is better to go at your own pace and enjoy the setting.
