Overview

The Blue Heron Fleet was established in 1955 by Capt. Harry Nagel. The fleet has been family owned and operated with the third generation currently at the helm. Blue Heron offers excellent year round fishing at a great price.

The vessels are the largest and most comfortable in the area. Vessels are custom built aluminum drift fishers that meet and exceed the United States Coast Guard regulations. The cabins offer cushioned seating, settees for catering, and clean men’s and ladies restrooms.

Both our locations are minutes from prime fishing grounds 20-40 minutes away depending on which hot spot is producing fish catches.

The fare includes rod, reel, bait, tackle, and fishing license. The crews have years of experience ensuring your families safety and enjoyment. Two half day excursion departing daily. No reservations necessary. Blue Heron specializes in private charters for family, business, and corporate events with the options of fishing or cruising.

I can't say that I would recommend this half day fishing trip to anyone. In some ways it seemed rigged, and certain "regulars" had prime locations on the boat. The boat had way too many people fishing from one side of the boat (we had to because of drift) and the lines were constantly becoming tangled. It felt like I was trapped in a hostile situation as many of the fishermen were aggressive in their pursuit of fish. It wasn't pleasant at all. My experience for my first time deep sea fishing was disappointing. Also although asked to be, many of the smokers were not respectful of those who can't tolerate or desire to tolerate 2nd hand smoke. In summary - this was a very expensive boat ride. It will NEVER be worth it unless they limit the number of people or do it in such a way that it is possible to fish from both sides at the same time I gave 3 stars because the workers were kind and tried to make the experience fun...they just couldn't though.
