Overview

The Blue Heron Fleet was established in 1955 by Capt. Harry Nagel. The fleet has been family owned and operated with the third generation currently at the helm. Blue Heron offers excellent year round fishing at a great price.

The vessels are the largest and most comfortable in the area. Vessels are custom built aluminum drift fishers that meet and exceed the United States Coast Guard regulations. The cabins offer cushioned seating, settees for catering, and clean men’s and ladies restrooms.

Both our locations are minutes from prime fishing grounds 20-40 minutes away depending on which hot spot is producing fish catches.

The fare includes rod, reel, bait, tackle, and fishing license. The crews have years of experience ensuring your families safety and enjoyment. Two half day excursion departing daily. No reservations necessary. Blue Heron specializes in private charters for family, business, and corporate events with the options of fishing or cruising.

Mates were great. I've been on many head boats up in New England and the mates at Blue Heron started by asking people if they knew how to opetate the reels and if they didnt they gave the clients one on one instruction. I've never seen that before. They also baited hooks, talked about the different species that were caught and were generally very personable.

The Good: 1. Boat was large enough that even in rough water, it wasn't a bad ride. I get seasick in rough water, but didn't have an issue on the larger boat they use. 2. Crew was excellent and attentive. The Bad: Neither me or my friend caught anything we could keep. I caught 2 scrub fish, he caught none. The boat only land a few edible fish. I don't really blame the boat/crew for that...it happens...but in 7 years of fishing that area in Feb....never happened before. Would try them again. Hoefully just a fluke.

Due to weather conditions the fishing trip I was hoping to go on was canceled. I went on internet search and low and behold Blue Heron Fishing popped up. I’m used to using my own rod and reel back home on Long Island. Pleasantly surprised that the boat poles were pretty good for equipment that is rented everyday. The mates, Jenna and AJ, were amazing and considerate to our needs. Including bating hook’s untangling fouled lines and GREAT humor. Fishing was decent for a full moon. I would definitely recommend sailing and fishing with the great Captain and crew of the Blue Heron Fleet! Thanks For A Wonderful Day! Ed Bernhardi NY, NY
