We had booked a Kayak/Falls trip with another company that was cancelled earlier due to flash flood warnings but they were booked and couldn't reschedule. I passed by Rainbow Kayak Tours, got online and reserved the remaining two spots. When we kayaked to the trail head it started raining. We hiked a short distance and Jake, our guide, made the tough call to not cross the first stream due to the rain and flash flood watches he had received. We turned around and met another group with another company and that guide decided to press on (we were later told by a third party that guides are supposed to respect the decisions of other guides). After lunch, my wife and I got back in the kayak and went upstream a few yards when we noticed the current picked up a little. We turned around and, after all of our group's kayaks were in the water, got surrounded by debris and rushing water. A flash flood had occurred. Since we had started back there were no problems but the other groups that were on the trail had their abandoned kayaks pushed out to the river. When we got back to the dock multiple boats were being put in to rescue the other groups, including the group that pushed forward. We didn't expect a full refund (we couldn't reschedule) because we had done the full kayaking and had lunch but a full refund was placed on our card without us even calling to discuss. Jake made the right call and we will certainly be using them again.
