What To Expect

Wailua River State Park

Paddle the majestic Wailua River for 2 miles each way (4 miles total round trip), original home of the first Hawaiians, who paddled 1500 miles from the Marquesas Islands to Kaua`i almost 1500 years ago. Hear the legends and learn about the flora and fauna of Kauai`s most sacred area.

Secret Falls (Uluwehi Falls)

After hiking 1 1/2 miles through the rain forest our guides will take clients to Secret Falls also known as Uluwehi Falls. This beautiful waterfall cascades 110 feet into a refreshing swimming hole, where they can go for a dip and enjoy a terrific lunch! You will then hike 1 1/2 miles back to your kayak (3 miles of hiking round trip). TRAIL CONDITIONS CAN VARY DEPENDING ON WEATHER. THERE WILL BE 4 RIVER CROSSINGS WITH LOOSE ROCKS IN RIVER BED THAT YOU WILL NEED TO CROSS AND UNPAVED TRAIL ON YOUR TREK TO THE WATERFALL. AND KEEP IN MIND YOU WILL CROSS THEM ON THE TREK BACK AS WELL. FOOTWEAR IS COMPLETELY SUBMERGED IN WATER DURING YOUR ADVENTURE. Bring Closed Toed Shoes / Reef shoes / Teeva Style Sandals

Thomas(our tour guide) was awesome. The kayak and hike portions were moderate. The waterfall was amazing. But, Thomas and his knowledge made this trip our favorite. Highly recommend this trip and company. Very professional and courteous.

The trip was beatiful and you should absolutely see the river, the short hike and the waterfall! However our tour felt way too rushy. Tourguide was constantly pushing to move on and had very little stories to tell to make it worth the 90$. We had about 10 minutes at the waterfall, which was too short. I'm not sure why it needed to be that way and if the tourguide is to blame. Other groups were taking it much slower. If the trip cannot be completed in 4 hours (+1 for packing, driving, launching), then I would recommend to find a different way. I would rent my own kayaks, possibly halfway upstream.

For our trip we kayaked up the Wailua river and then hiked about a mile to the "secret" waterfall. The entire outing went smoothly and while typically Kauai casual, it was run very professionally. Our guide for the day, Matt, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the local history and local plant life in the region. I would recommend this trip and business to everyone. We will certainly book any future trips through them without hesitation. Thanks!
