The DC & Arlington in a Half Day is a fast-paced and enjoyable way to see the top sights in one memorable tour. Approximately 4. hours in duration, it starts by meeting your guide outside the Arlington National Cemetery Metro station. Begin with a unique 90 minutes walking tour of Arlington National Cemetery with our friendly and knowledgeable guide, where you’ll experience the Eternal Flame at the Grave of President John F. Kennedy and the can’t-miss Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns first-hand. From there you’ll travel with your guide on board our climate-controlled bus to visit such key attractions as the U.S. Capitol Building (exterior), the National Mall, the White House (exterior), the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and many others. The entire tour is led by your experienced and personable tour guide who walks you through each of the sites and narrates on board when riding. Plenty of photo opportunities.

What To Expect

Arlington National Cemetery
The first portion of this tour is a 2 hour WALKING tour of Arlington Cemetery before joining the rest of the group and the bus for the remainder of the tour. Your guide will take you to see highlights such as the JFK Gravesite and the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier as you walk up and down the cemeteries beautiful, rolling hills. This portion of the tour is not recommended for guests with mobility issues or young children/strollers

U.S. Capitol
Join your guide for a brief photo stop on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol as you hear about the history and importance of this iconic place. Includes ride down Pennsylvania Avenue on way to the U.S. Capitol. Does not include access to the building or tour inside.

White House
The group will step off the bus and walk 2 long blocks down Pennsylvania Avenue to see America's most famous residence from the outside. Your route includes the U.S. Treasury Bldg, the White House, the West Wing, Lafayette Square Park, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and the Blair House before returning to the bus to continue your tour. This is an exterior tour only.

National World War II Memorial
At this spectacular memorial to the 16 million Americans who served and the over 400,000 that died in the world's most cataclysmic war, you will also see a panoramic view of the National Mall. You'll get photos of this monument plus both the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial down the Reflecting Pool in the distance.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
Walk the 7.5 acre memorial to America's longest serving U.S. President and one of the 20th Century's most important global figures. You'll see one of the most arresting sites in Washington, with statuary, landscaping and quotes designed to highlight his contribution during the Great Depression and World War II. This stop is usually combined with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial for a total of 30-35 minutes.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
This stunning memorial to the iconic civil rights leader sits on the Tidal Basin and is gorgeous in any kind of weather. You'll stroll through to see its unique design and beautiful surroundings, while hearing about a man that changed the U.S. forever. This stop also is combined with the FDR Memorial with a total duration of 30 minutes.

Korean War Veterans Memorial
You'll walk through the haunting and elegant memorial to the U.N./U.S. forces who died during the Korean conflict from 1950-1953. From the field of solider statues, to the serenity pool, to the photographs on the polished granite wall, this memorial leaves a lasting impression on all who see it in person. This stop is combined with the Lincoln Memorial and Vietnam Veterans Memorial stop.

Lincoln Memorial
You'll capture photos of D.C.'s most famous memorial and the Reflecting Pool as well as hear about its unique history at this stop. Your guide will also tell you about the many events that have taken place there in addition to the life and times of America's beloved and slain 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. This stop is combined with the Korean War and Vietnam Veterans Memorials.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The iconic "Wall" with its 58,479 names carved into its surface remains one of D.C.'s most moving attractions. You'll walk through with your guide and hear the story of its construction as well as see the three soldier statues and Women's Memorial designed to round out the story of one of America's most complex and difficult conflicts.

The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City
Lunch is at guest's expense, but there will be the opportunity to eat lunch at the Pentagon City Mall with many choices. Location is seasonal from mid October to mid April. From mid April to mid October (dates vary annually), lunch will be at the Washington Harbour in Washington, DC instead.

Potomac River
From mid April to mid October (seasonal availability only), guests will enjoy a 1 hour cruise down the Potomac from Georgetown to see the city from a different perspective on a historic former ferry boat. From mid October to mid April, guests will see the Jefferson Memorial instead.

Air Force Memorial
This soaring memorial to the USAF offers an amazing perspective over the city with views of Arlington Cemetery, the Pentagon and the many monuments and memorials on the other side of the Potomac in Washington, D.C. Guests will hear about its construction and meaning as well as grab incredible photos.

U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial
The world-famous "Iwo Jima" Memorial sits near Arlington National Cemetery and you'll see it from the outside as you drive in to see this one-of-a-kind statue and its beautiful setting overlooking the DC skyline from the Arlington side of the Potomac River. You'll hear about both and have the opportunity to take pictures at this memorable and important site.
