During your time on Kauai, enjoy a three-hour guided kayak and snorkel tour along the picturesque Hanalei River and in Hanalei Bay, which is home to the beautiful Bay Reef Lagoon. Admire the dramatic Makana Peak (Bali Hai) and get up close to tropical reef fish. As you kayak along the river, you’ll be surrounded by lush trees and diverse wildlife. Learn about the flora and fauna of the surrounding area from your naturalist guide, and enjoy a snorkel in the turquoise waters of the lagoon.

Michael & Elijah were delightful tour guides and provided a safe and informative day trip for us. I would consider this tour an intermediate skill level due to the open ocean portion of the trip that required navigating small swells, and the overall duration def tuckered us out! The access to Hidden Beach from the ocean negated the treacherous scramble from the parking area, which was a plus. The water clarity on Hidden Beach was phenomenal, and snorkeling was prime...we swam with a sea turtle and created amazing memories. Lunch on the beach was provided by Michael & Elijah and included basic sandwiches/chips/drinks/cookies, as well as delicious fresh cut pineapple served in the pineapple shell, which was a nice touch.

Aloha, Glad you enjoyed our classic Hanalei Blue Lagoon paddle & snorkel. Especially during the summer, when there is less waves, it is a treat to paddle to Hideaways (winter swell ofter forbids it). They started the day about 1/2 late due to the booking agent that works for them not communicating with them about the location of some of the clients. Only one guide trying to manage driving the shuttle, unloading the kayaks and equipment, then had to drive the van back and ride his bike back to us while we waited another 30-45 minutes. Only one guide to manage 8 kayaks, some with kids and zero paddling experience. The guide made us take very frequent, unnecessary breaks while paddling with us having to listen to his ridiculous babbling "games". Once we left the river, the paddling in Hanalei Bay was only about 100 yards at most from the beach crowd. The same single guide then had to prepare lunch while "monitoring" those of us snorkeling. When we returned to the pickup point, the process was reversed-guide biked to the van, we did a lot of the loading. The river view was very pretty. The snorkeling was pretty good.

We had a wonderful day with our guide, Haku. Kayaking was a mix of relaxing on the river and a couple times pretty challenging on the sea. Haku prepared us well for the experience. Scenery was stunning. Throughout the day we learned so much from Haku about the Hawaiian culture. It gave us so much more appreciation and respect for the people, the land, and the beauty around you. Lunch on the beach was great and my boys really enjoyed the snorkeling - the equipment was better than what we had previously rented at a resort. Highlight was riding a sizeable wave in while heading back to the river.

Aloha Missy, Pohaku is not only a excellent guide, as you found out, but is one of the top body boarders on Kaua'i; a really good waterman. Pohaku is not only fun to work but as you learned is a repository of authentic Hawaiian culture. The beauty of Hanalei is the icing on the cake.
