Guide tried his stand up comedian routine on us, it was a little painful to listen to him. I felt almost uncomfortable. Way too many people. Over 30. Had to take us in shifts into Driskill hotel. Just stood a few feet into lobby. Definitely no tour of the hotel. Cars honking as we all tried to cross the streets. Our large group annoyed all other tourists trying to walk on the sidewalks. It was embarrassing. We even apologized to other tourists that passed us on the streets. We finally left 40 minutes into it. Too many stories from the guide telling us he was trying to find anyone that could tell him any ghost stories and he himself has never experienced it. Just a very strange dialogue for a ghost tour.

This was my first ghost tour and I never understood the appeal before but I do now. It was a unique way to see parts of downtown and envision the evolution of Austin. Jim kept our attention the full time with his ability to create visual images with his imaginative and descriptive stories of the city. He led us through places of haunting and crimes and his passion for his job was apparent from the beginning. It was an experience I wouldnā€™t trade. He showed us the darker side of Austin and did a little good for our own souls at the same time.

This was my boyfriend and I's first tour like this (of course we had to do it on Friday the 13th and full moon) and it was very fun and entertaining. There were a lot of things that we learned about Austin that we didn't know before.Morgan was a great story teller and I appreciated the honesty because so many times people will tell you what you want to hear for more money. One thing that I did notice was some people brought their children and some had to leave early because of their kids getting scared. If you don't think they are ready to hear about murders or death by suicide this probably isn't the best event for them.
