Hawai'i E-Mountain Bike Ride

Overview
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
Go for an exclusive guided mountain bike tour of Anna Ranch, a National Historic Site and working ranch. The green, rolling hills of the 110 acre ranch are nestled at the base of the Kohala Mountains, former training grounds for King Kamehameha’s Kipu‘u pu‘u Warriors. This mountain bike tour is both family-friendly and challenging, and provides insight into Hawaiian history and culture. As you ride in the lush, cool uplands of Waimea you’ll enjoy stunning views of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai. We’ll begin with a brief overview of Anna’s legacy as the original Hawaiian Cowgirl and the First Lady of Ranching. Then we’ll ride directly from the ranch across the Kohakohau Stream and head up nearly 1200 feet to our snack spot and vista point, stopping along the way to learn about the historic and cultural elements of this unique aina (land).

It was a nice fun ride, not too challenging, for my beginner/intermediate partner, and intermediate/advanced me. The bikes are really nice and well-maintained, the scenery is breathtaking, the history was interesting, and our guide Sylvia was super nice and helpful. We'll definitely do another ride with this company next time we're back on the island.

We rode twice with Big Island Bike Tours last week on vacation. One ride was a private ride for 2, a 120km route covering parts of the Ironman course and up to the Pololu valley and back from the Fairmont. This was fully supported and our guide Sylvia was amazing and a total pro. The support van was always near by to handle any fueling needs or mechanical adjustments - everything was at our pace and we felt like pros. The road bikes were also top notch. The second day we took our kids 14 and 11 and did the Mana Rd mountain bike ride. At first I was worried with the various levels of fitness but the Ebikes are huge equalizers and make this a very accessible adventure for everyone regardless of fitness. Sylvia was also amazing with our kids and the route was breathtaking. Before our trips care was also taken to make sure all measurements were gathered and that we didn’t need to bring any helmets or water bottles. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and it’s obvious how professionally things are run. I wouldn’t hesitate on my next trip to tour again with Big Island Bike Tours.

This ride was amazing! Our tour guide Ray was great. He new the history of the land, and also made sure everyone was safe. Very peaceful ride with a couple nice technical challenges but nothing super difficult. Provides a unique view of the big island. Would absolutely ride again.
