When we arrived in Hilo, the tours on our bot had been sold out. I was able to locate a company, Viator, who had a tour of the island which would meet you at the ship. We were met there by Donna with a small passenger van, 24 people, who then took us on the most wonderful tour of Hilo. It was about a six-hour tour, and we saw everything from volcanoes to surfers and turtles on the beach. it was a great day which really gave us a good feel of the island. Just looking at the live volcano steaming in from of us was thrilling especially as Mt. Kilowea erupts as i write. Don't miss this tour. Donna was a great guide and we saw a nice documentary on the eruption of Kilowea in 2018. The prices were less than the excursions on the ship. Don't miss this adventure!

Kimo was a fantastic guide. His knowledge as a multi-generational Hilo native gave the tour a wonderful personal touch.

The oral history of sites was eloquently describe by our tour guide, Leo. She told wonderful stories of the history of the island including the mythology of Pele respected by islanders. The goddess Pele seems real in the islander lives. It was great for my child see how incredibly land developed by nature coupled with respect for the land in association with the rich Hawaiian culture.

Aloha Amy, I am so pleased that you folks came along for the day. I am honored to have been able to share my island home with you, your daughter and your friends. I hope the girls took home a better grasp of volcanoes and the rain forest. I had an awesome time on the road. Mahalo for choosing Malahini Tours. Leo
