Hawaiian Salt Farm Tour

Overview

Tour Hawaii Island's only Salt Farm. Recently featured on Guy Fieri's show, we are located on a beautiful 7 acre oceanfront site, in an area that was has been for salt gathering by Hawaiians for centuries and now is part of the Hawaii Ocean Science & Technology Park.

Our Chief Salt Maker brings tradition and modern technology together, she hand harvest the only salt in the world made from Deep Ocean Waters 2,200 feet below the surface.

Your guide will give you a brief overview of the history of our area, the special place salt has in Hawaiian Culture, our salt making process and the centuries-long travel through deep sea currents our ultra pristine and mineral rich water took before arriving to us here.

To finish we offer a salt tasting of our various salts, flavored and smoked.

What To Expect

Our Salt Farm Manager will meet you at our office and give a guided tour of our water source, salt harvesting areas, explain the salt harvesting process, our other deep ocean mineral products and finish with a salt tasting.

Fabulous tour! My husband and I don’t like coffee but wanted to do some kind of foodie tour and this was excellent. It’s a growing business and the guide was so passionate it really made it that much more engaging. Not only is the salt incredible, they also produce liquid magnesium and other items for health. We left the tour super happy and would recommend to all!

We had a wonderful tour with lots of very interesting information. Sam, our tour guide, made the it very interesting explaining the process of making sea salt. We highly recommend doing this type while you're on the island.

As regular visitors to Big Island, we were glad to see this new tour opportunity. Sam is a great guide and provides a good overview of the area and the process of farming salt. We enjoyed the chance to hear about their future plans for the site and hope to visit again to see how things are going. It was nice to get some education on salt and magnesium and pick up some products to take home.
