What To Expect

Green River

We fly due west, over the Green and San Rafael rivers. This is where one gets the sense of the West with wide open vistas and endless skies. Soon the amazing San Rafael Reel juts up, seemingly out of nowhere. We will fly the Reef south and view one of the most spectacular rock formations on earth. We will pass just north of Goblin Valley with its remarkable Hoodoos and return back by Canyonlands NP Horseshoe Canyon Unit, swing past the famous Horsethief Ranch and approach the airport from the southwest, passing the Monitor and Merrimac. Sounds like a lot, it is!

This was one of the best adventures I have every been a part of. Mike did a great job making sure we were comfortable and ready for the flight. The helicopter was so clean which made it great for taking pictures. He was so knowledgeable of the area and showed us the most unbelievable things. He even took us up a little late so we could see the sunset! I would recommend him to everyone!! Well worth it.

Moab Heli X is AWESOME! I am a local climbing and canyoneering guide and I couldn’t be more impressed with this outfitter. We joined our pilot, Mike, for an incredible flight out of Canyonlands Field Airport. Flying around just 300 feet off the ground, we were treated to amazing views of the Island in the Sky, the Green River, the San Rafael River, Iron Wash, Greasewood Draw, and the San Rafael Swell. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to see the geology of the Colorado plateau from the air (the braided streams of the Morrison Formation stood out in my mind as spectacular) and swooping through the impressively huge canyons of the Swell was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We flew in an impeccably clean and well-maintained Robinson R66 which Mike handled with the ease of a Jedi. Both helicopters are well-equipped for adventuring, with plenty of room for camping, climbing, canyoneering, or rafting gear. The hangar was impossibly clean and even smelled new (new hangar smell??) I enjoyed relaxing in the pilot’s lounge while Mike went over the finer points of the aircraft and showed us how to file a flight plan. These guys seem more than capable of ELEVATING your adventure out to the Robber’s Roost, North Wash, Swell, Castle Valley, Lake Powell, or whatever you’re stoked on in BIG STYLE! I can’t recommend them more!
