Hello Neighbor! The Mister Rogers Walking Tour!

Overview
Welcome to our Winter Park neighborhood on this beautiful day! While many well-known celebrities have passed through this storied village over its rich history, probably no one impacted, and was impacted by, Winter Park more than Fred McFeely Rogers, lovingly known the world over to millions of people as the unforgettable host of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood for over 50 years now.

Come along on our Mister Rogers Walking Tour as we visit the heart of town where Fred and his lifetime sweetheart, Sara Joanne Byrd Rogers, fell in love while in college and spent many years later in life. You’ll learn fascinating tidbits about how Fred was motivated by a mural in Winter Park to begin a lifetime ministry of serving others.

Walk in the same places that Fred and Joanne did through different seasons of their life, as you come to better understand what inspired this legendary man to leave his unique mark on the world and impact millions of children with his special gifts.

It was a delight to take this tour and to walk in the footsteps of Fred Rogers. It was interesting to learn why he chose Rollins College. And to learn that it was here where this quiet man was initially encouraged to perform on stage. If you are in Winter Park, take this tour, and imagine Fred strolling in front of the shops while courting a young pianist name JoAnn, talking of their future together. How simple, and yet how important, to be someone’s neighbor.

We're so glad you had a good time and found Fred's story and connection to Winter Park as fascinating as we do!

Who knew behind those sneakers and handmade sweaters was a man who skinny-dipped, hated going to the doctor and proposed to his wife in a letter? Mister Rogers was a legend, but he was also human, and this tour captured it perfectly. The stories about his not always happy childhood to his knack for knowing how to relate to the little ones makes this tour a must when visiting Winter Park.
