Jet Boat Tour through the Wild River Section of the Snake River in Hells Canyon - South Entrance - Hells Canyon Dam. The Wild River Section is where you find the largest rapids, where the canyon is at its deepest elevations, and the scenery transitions from rock walls at the bottom, to high dessert grasslands in the middle, to alpine forests at the top. Wow! What a great jet boat ride on the Snake River! Hells Canyon Adventures operates its tours from Hells Canyon Dam through the "wild" part of the river. Mark, the captain and owner, gave us a terrific tour with lots of interesting information about the river and the people who have lived and worked in Hells Canyon. The boat was very comfortable and in excellent condition. Mark really knew the river and we all felt totally safe with him in control of the boat. His assistant, Bill, was very helpful and so thoughtful about asking if he could take photos of each passenger at various photo opportunities. The Hells Canyon scenery was majestic and we saw bald eagles and big horn sheep very near the banks of the river. Going over the class four rapids in a jet boat was great fun. We got to go farther down river than the usual all-day Kirkwood tour, as Hells Canyon Adventures is also a shuttle service on the river and had to pick up ten rafters at Pittsburg Landing to return them to Hells Canyon dam. It was over 100 degrees in the canyon the day we took the jet boat tour, so it was delightful when Mark pulled up to a great swimming area and we got to cool off in the river. It made for a cool, refreshing ride the final few miles up river to the boat dock near the dam. If you're looking for a great adventure with an excellent company...book a tour with Hells Canyon Adventures.

On a Saturday the Jet Boat tour made with Cody as Guide. He knows a lot about the canyon, this definitely adds something to the tour. We were a smaller group (6 people), for us some older people. Which I think caused Cody to sail a bit more carefully (less wet). Unfortunately no wild life spotted. Definitely worth it.
