I took the 3-hour extended tour and I love it. Met is already too famous so I don't need to rave about the museum anymore. However, there's a reason you choose to visit a museum with a tour guide, that's the tour guide him/herself. Our guide of the day was Jason. Within the mere 3 hours, he managed to give me more knowledge about art and art history than I can ever learn at school. He was patient and passion about art and you can feel it by the way he conveyed his speech. He managed to give us information without making use snooze off as the professors in school. As a matter of fact, his speech was so interesting that we collected quite many stray along the way through the museum and he had to keep un-invite them. Highly recommended, especially if you're as clueless about art as I am.
DO visit the MET! There is something here for every person to enjoy in this beautiful building- and space to see it. DO visit the roof top for a refreshing break and a beverage from the nice snack bar and take in the great view! - snap some photos! END your visit when you are tired and done looking. DO NOT eat at the museum restaurant- ugh! It is a glorified cafeteria with waiters, a limited, small portion, menu of over-priced food and beverages! Eat somewhere else after you leave - anywhere outside the museum would be better! SO, go to the MUSEUM, not the restaurant, and have a good time!
