This place is beautiful. So much to see and places to relax and watch the butterflies. There are large gorgeous pavilions to have lunch or do crafts with the kids. They had a nice little gift shop with books, art, and things to buy local from the island. The staff really pride themselves in knowing their facts and are great at sharing their stories about everything from owl pellets to plankton. Huge live oaks are shading the paths and nice boardwalks on the water to bird watch. Really a peaceful place to escape for a few hours!

No wonder Smithsonian Museum supports Honey Horn Coastal Discovery Museum. What a wonderful coastal South Carolina Low Country museum with great i door artifact and nature displays, interesting docents to guide your visit. The best part of Honey Horn Coastal Discovery Museum is the outdoor trails, covered marshland walkways , and gardens. A definite fun historical stop while visiting Hilton Head Island.

A hidden local museum that talks about the indigenous wildlife and activities that lead to the development of Hilton head Island. The museum is free and you can purchase guided tours on the various topics. They have a butterfly garden several docks extending out into the marsh a house museum with paintings, sculptures and information about the Island. Families would enjoy coming here. It is on the north end of the island and will take you about an hour to tour if you self guide.
