Absolutely the best experience in Hilton head. We spent two weeks here and done private guided fishing, beach time, tennis, golf, country club time, everything. This adventure was by far the highlight of our trip. Iā€™ve taken my family to 30 countries in over 30 states, and this is probably one of the top 10 tour adventures out of the hundreds that weā€™ve taken. Donā€™t expect to catch a lot of shrimp, or you will set yourself up for disappointment. But you do catch crabs, fish, and all kinds of critters. Dolphins swim behind the boat, seagulls fly behind it, and we even saw a giant sea turtle.

My daughter & her family (husband and 4 & 8 year olds) came to visit from Michigan and we thought this sounded very interesting. There were 14 of us passengers, plenty of room for social distancing if we chose. About an hour was spent with the shrimp net in the water trawling. But the first mate, Brent, was personable and knowledgeable and explained the shrimping process to us. They were plenty of questions and he answered them all very patiently and expertly. Captain Spike was an interesting fellow. Heā€™s only been shrimping for the last 6 years but certainly has gained plenty of knowledge of not just shrimping, but this area. When it was time to haul up the net there was an extremely interesting assortment of sea life. A small hammerhead shark, a baby starfish, a cannonball jellyfish (totally harmless), a couple skates, some baby black tipped sharks, several varieties of fish plus at least 20 lbs of assorted sizes of shrimp. Captain Spike and Brent began the process of sorting through the catch and throwing everything back into the water that wasnā€™t shrimp. But we were all able to touch the creatures if we wanted before returning them to the sea. A wonderful learning experience for all of us. Then came the task of removing the heads. All were invited to participate but only a few actually did. After learning the correct way to pinch off the head while also removing the vein, the catch was divided among our four groups so we brought home at least 5 lbs of the freshest shrimp weā€™d ever eaten. I made Lowcountry Boil that night and added over half the shrimp and they were by far the best shrimp Iā€™ve had in my life! This is not for everyone but if youā€™re adventurous, donā€™t mind getting your hands dirty and love shrimp you must take this cruise!
