Come join the crew aboard the Tammy Jane for a 2-hour educational and picturesque low-country experience as we take you out Shrimping! We invite you to learn about our healthy salt marsh environment, and introduce you to some of the sea creatures we'll safely pull up in our nets (in addition to shrimp!).

We will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.

This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home.

What To Expect

Vagabond Cruise

Aboard this two hour excursion you will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home. All excursions depart from Harbour Town Yacht Basin within the Sea Pines Resort. There is a $9.00 per vehicle entry fee for the Sea Pines Resort that must be paid in cash. This gate pass is valid for the entire day, so make the most out of the Sea Pines Resort. Check-in for your Shrimp Trawl aboard the Tammy Jane will be at the Vagabond Cruise reservation office which is located just to the right of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. Great way to learn about shrimping and identifying the many different creatures caught in the nets. Only the shrimp are kept, all else is released back in the ocean. My favorite was a small butterfly ray (no stinging barb), soft as velvet and fun to handle. Dolphins even made an appearance but didn’t hang around. The crew was very engaging and explained the shrimping process in great detail. The Captain was especially personable. Shrimp are divided up at the end so whoever wanted could take their share home, making the cost of this excursion even less expensive. Great fun for kids and adults alike. Plenty of shade on the boat if you go on a hot day. Definitely recommend this trip. Taking the head off the shrimp is not for everyone, but it’s optional and we decided to leave it for the experts!

This was a fantastic tour! We learned so much about the local sea life and saw SO many dolphins too. Lucy was an amazing guide! Would definitely take this cruise again.

No shrimp caught and the people did not seem very knowledgeable. Nice people but we didn’t catch any shrimp nor did the group before us.
