If you're looking for an authentic lowcounty experience look no further than Daufuskie Island on your next trip to Hilton Head. It's only a 30 minute Ferry ride from Harbour Town but it will feel like you stepped back in time when you arrive!

Along the way to Daufuskie Island you will hear tails of this sea islands past from your naturalist captain. This trip allows 3-hours on Daufuskie Island. One of the most popular things to do when arrive is a self guided golf cart tour.

3-hour golf cart rentals will be available for purchase upon arrival to the island. There are both 4-seater and 6-seater golf carts available.

Make sure to visit the Daufuskie Island Crab Company for lunch before you leave.

Loved visiting the museum - learned so much!! Was really interested in the Gullah people - their culture and language. The video playing in the museum showed us a lot about them. Loved hearing them speak the language!!

The boat was run down and old. Seating was very limited (4 chairs) inside, and the rest of the seating outside was cold, as it was 47 that morning. No safety information was given until very late in the trip over, they said don't worry the crew will calmly hand out life jackets as needed. There were 4 crew members on board..... Once we arrived on Daufuskie, we were told to be back on the boat at 12:30. The only restaurant opened at 11:30, so not a lot of time to get lunch. We were given maps, but they were not to scale at all, signs on the island are hit or miss (not Vagabonds fault), but it created some stress not knowing how long our return golf cart ride would take to get back to the boat. I think that if it is your first time going to Daufuskie it would be best to hire a guide that knows the island and help navigate to the places that you want to see. As for Vagabond, this boat was just uncomfortable, even if they day had been warmer. I was expecting something similar to a car ferry, where there is a bit more than 4 seats inside, and at least plastic on the windows...

We had such a great trip! My sister and I took my husband to Dafuskie and rented a golf cart. Our captains name was Justin and his first mate was Jenna. She took a photo of us as we boarded and we bought two copies at the end of the cruise. Captain Justin was very informative and also reviewed all the safety procedures as we began. He helped us to find some dolphins on the way back. Jenna helped us when we wanted to purchase t-shirts and souvenirs. It was such a nice experience on a perfect day. I can’t wait to go again.
