If you're like me, you visit a new place, see the sights on your itinerary and head out of town. Taking a Tucson Bike Tour with Jimmy, you will see and learn about many of the historic neighborhoods of Tucson that you can't get on foot or in a car. And being on a bike makes the tour even more fun. Jimmy provides the bikes helmets, water and fun facts while providing a very safe and well paced tour.

Jimmy, the owner and tour guide, is a great guy--very energetic, interesting and accommodating. Jimmy showed us lots of worthwhile features of downtown Tucson. However, this is not a leisurely bike ride. We've been on several bike tours that use bikes with wide seats and fat tires. Jimmy's bikes are more like racing bikes with narrow seats and skinny, hard tires that rattle the bike and rider on every bump. If you're in reasonably good shape and in the mood for an enjoyable though vigorous bike ride this is the tour for you.

I'm glad you enjoyed the tour but obviously the bikes or pace weren't exactly what you prefer. As for the bikes I use, they aren't beach cruisers but they definitely aren't racing bikes either. They are city bikes. Basically they are a simpler version of a hybrid bike, which most folks are familiar with. The tires are right in the middle - not balloons but wider than road bikes. The tires are inflated around 60 to 70 psi, whereas racing bikes are much harder, about 120 psi. The city bike seats are also quite average in their size and come equipped with a padded seat cover. The tour is about 11 miles (10.6 when I mapped it) over 3 hours, which I think is more useful than trying to pick a word to describe the pace. I will definitely admit, however, that their are more than a few bumpy roads around Tucson. It's definitely not a secret! The silver lining to that is that it slows down cars a bit. We are rated as one of the top10 most bike friendly cities in America. Thanks for the review!

Excellent tour. Highly recommend for all ages. Lots of great information and overview of the area. Fun way to spend three hours and well worth the price.
