Overview

It's classier than a pub crawl and tipsier than a history tour! You'll spend three leisurely hours picking up some history, along with local libations, as you stroll through Savannah's Landmark Historic District. Unlike a rowdy pub crawl, your drinks are already paid for and have been chosen to represent the most distinctive favorites that have come and gone throughout the city's 285 year history. Party like it's 1799 with a glass of Madeira wine (and a cheese plate) at Jazz'd Tapas Bar, then sample six different meads (and even more varieties of honey) at Savannah Bee Company. After the mead, it's time for a mint julep at the 17Hundred90 Inn & Restaurant. Then end with a bang- a glass of Chatham Artillery Punch at the Pirate's House! Our last stop, where everyone gets Savannah's most famous beverage- the Chatham Artillery Punch.

My hubbie and I are from Seattle, had never been to Savannah and only traveled briefly through the Deep South on a few previous occasions. Then we found ourselves on a recent road trip with 1 day in Savannah. How do we maximize our time we asked ourselves? Bonnies 'Historical Drinking Tour of Savannah' popped up on Trip Advisor. What a treat it turned out to be! Bonnie is passionately proud of her city and her historical knowledge is extensive but make no mistake, this tour is far from 'dry'! Bonnie cleverly plans her history walk to include stops at local establishments for an 'adult beverage' of historical significance. We sampled Madeira wine, Mead, Mint Julep and Chatham Artillery Punch all while soaking up Bonnie's clever tales of life long ago in Savannah. We had a blast and highly recommend this tour!
