What To Expect
1
Hoover Dam
This exciting tour commences with complimentary hotel pickup. As you make your way to the Hoover Dam, you will travel past Lake Mead, the second largest man-made lake in the Western Hemisphere. The tour will provide you with the opportunity to walk on the top of the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge. Following this stop, you will cross over the top of the Dam with closeup views of the architecture, penstocks and Arizona Spillway. When the Hoover Dam was completed early in 1935, it was both the world's largest electric power producing facility and the world's largest concrete structure, weighing a total of 6.6 million tons. You will discover a multitude of facts on your tour about this impressive structure.

Hoover Dam Bypass
The Bypass Bridge opened in 2010 stretching nearing 2,000 feet long and 840 feet above the Colorado River, making it the second highest bridge in the United States. Ample time is provided for souvenir shopping and purchase of food items at the Dam restaurant. This is truly an exciting and very educational experience that will provide you with a thorough overview of this fascinating, nearly 90 year old, civil engineering wonder of the world.

Overall the tour was great. The guild was very knowledgeable and informative. Disappointed that we did not get to see the power plant as thatā€™s the main reason we chose this tour over others. Seems a bit like false advertising.

Yes, the Power Plant is closed until further notice due to COVID19 and not anticipated to reopen until 2022. As a result, we conduct the exterior tour only with some add ons to further enhance the tour. The exterior status is mentioned on the Viator site but buried too deep to pick up on. I just went into the site and included the term EXTERIOR ONLY so that folks would pick up on the restriction right away. Glad you enjoyed the actual tour, quite a civil engineering landmark that is nearly 90 years old and attracts a million visitors a year. I hope that you had a safe trip home after a wonderful vacation in Las Vegas. If you would like to learn more about the Power Plant portion, please send me your email address and I will forward to you some wonderful images and content. Thanks again for traveling with us.

We went on a beautiful day! There was a deep blue sky, fluffy white clouds, and a breeze when we go to the dam. The tour stopped at a scenic outlook of Lake Mead where we got of the bus and took pics. Then back on and on to the dam. The inside tour of dam was still closed. However, one of the souvenir shops and a cafƩ were opened. You can walk across the bridge and see the dam from that angle. Inside the dam property, you can walk the area with has some inclines to get to parking lots. There is a sign stating Arizona Stateline on one section and a Nevada marker on the other. You can literally walk from Nevada to Arizona and back within minutes. This is a nice trip for couples, group of friends, and families with small children.
