What To Expect
1
Hoover Dam
This exciting tour commences with complimentary hotel pickup. As you make your way to the Hoover Dam, you will travel past Lake Mead, the second largest man-made lake in the Western Hemisphere. The tour will provide you with the opportunity to walk on the top of the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge. Following this stop, you will cross over the top of the Dam with closeup views of the architecture, penstocks and Arizona Spillway. When the Hoover Dam was completed early in 1935, it was both the world's largest electric power producing facility and the world's largest concrete structure, weighing a total of 6.6 million tons. You will discover a multitude of facts on your tour about this impressive structure.

Hoover Dam Bypass
The Bypass Bridge opened in 2010 stretching nearing 2,000 feet long and 840 feet above the Colorado River, making it the second highest bridge in the United States. Ample time is provided for souvenir shopping and purchase of food items at the Dam restaurant. This is truly an exciting and very educational experience that will provide you with a thorough overview of this fascinating, nearly 90 year old, civil engineering wonder of the world.

Our driver was ver nice and very knowledgeable. Only wish we had more time. Could not really read and look at everything due to time constraints. Suggest that you take sandwiches to eat on the way to or from. Not enough time to get anything to eat. Water is provided. You spend a lot of time picking up and dropping off at hotels. Plenty of time to eat on bus.

My wife and I had a good time on this tour. Our tour guide/driver, Bill, picked us up from our hotel and immediately made us feel welcome by offering us water. He was very knowledgeable about the area and provided great information. He also has a great sense of humor. The tour of the Hoover Dam was also very informative, and we appreciated the length of the tour. It wasn't so short that you feel like you're missing information, and it wasn't so long that you became bored. Overall, it was a great experience. The only thing I would add to the tour would be to stop and get off the tour bus in Boulder City, as opposed to riding through the historic part of town.

First off, our driver (Angela) was fantastic - very informative and managed to get us all back to our hotels by the stated return time, considering a major delay on the freeway coming home. (She knew all the back streets). As for the Hoover Dam? - very interesting. Our tour guide at the dam, (J.R.) answered all our questions and gave us plenty of time to wander around the power plant and take photos etc. Back up top, it was VERY hot, so be aware of this if you are booking the tour in summer. (Try for an early morning tour if possible). Lots of restrictions regarding just what you can take with you off the bus. No car keys, or sharp objects and basically boils down to just your cell phone/camera and some water. There is a small shop and overlook on the Arizona side, but most of the "development" is on the Nevada side, with a large gift shop plus refreshments, as well as the information center. Don't worry about the photo op as you start the tour. It's expensive and only worth it, if you REALLY like your photo (They photograph you in front of a green screen). There are plenty of opportunities to do a 'selfie' at the dam. Highly recommended day out - a day away from the manic vibe of The Strip. (Good value too, when booked thru Tripadvisor!!)
