Such a great experience. The driver of the Black Diamond Resort picked us up right on time and took us (husband and me) to the ranch. There was plenty going on with other people on ATV's and such. There were 4 conestoga wagons drawn by draft horses. We climbed in the wagon (these did not appear to be handicapped accessible) and began a 30 minute ride through the gorgeous Alaska countryside. Our guide and driver told us about the ranch, the horses, the scenery. It was a cool but pleasant evening with a great group of strangers. We all visited until we arrived at the house. There were long tables set up with salads and corn bread placed on them. We seated ourselves wherever we liked and began eating. Our guide was also our waiter and she brought drinks to us. Then, she brought chicken, ribs, salmon and several other side dishes. All of the food was very tasty and she brought out more of whatever we asked for. After eating we had a chance to look at the horses and have our pictures taken with them, if we wanted. I did! After the pix were taken we got back into our wagons and were taken back to the ranch house and then transported back to our various hotels. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable evening. Having owned a horse myself, I know what to look for in horses. These horses were well cared for, clean, fed and their harnesses and tack were immaculate. I was much impressed with our evening.
