There really isn’t much there and everything was closed. They’re only open summers or weekends. One store, which was nice, finally opened. The original courthouse is there and is still in use so if court isn’t in session you can peek in (or maybe get a tour from the sheriff if you’re lucky). There are only a few of the old original buildings left. There is a pioneer cemetery a bit out of town, somewhat of a misnomer as it’s still the cemetery in use for the town now. It was up a hill and laid out very irregularly due to the hill.

We came to Idaho City because this Historic Walking District looked like a town right out of the movie "Paint Your Wagon". We walked all around by ourselves, and it would have been so much fun to have Rhonda take us on a tour and tell us all about the history and the stories associated with the old buildings. I'm sure we missed out on a great tour. We enjoyed being there and imagining what life must have been like during the gold rush in the 1860's.

Very interesting guided walking tour of Idaho City. Our guide, Rhonda, is very knowledgeable sharing the History and background of this unique little town. I brought a group from my destination family reunion and we all enjoyed our tour.
