When I saw Illusionist Rick Thomas and his Mansion of Dreams, I thought, "Oh, WOW!" As a magic enthusiast, I have seen many magic shows over the years. Most of the good shows out there are trick after trick, mostly with no rhyme or reason. However, The Mansion of Dreams is a theatrical production, on par with a Broadway play. The dancers, the music, the sets, the illusions, the story telling, and the feeling of happiness coupled with shear wonder are key elements in this production that result in a wonderfully unique experience. The messaging throughout the show is a positive one that all of us should not overlook. I encourage everyone to see Rick Thomas wherever you can. I'm looking forward to the next time I can see his show.

Humbly Stunned. Thank you for seeing through the smoke and mirrors. Efforts to present a show far beyond the magic seemed to hit home. My very best regards and thank you for writing an amazing, extensive review.

We went to see this show in Palm Desert, expecting something cool. It was so utterly creepy and disturbing. At one point, he called a little boy on stage and had him pick a "beautiful" woman out of a line up. The magician asked him if he wanted to kiss her and he said no. Rick then told him he would regret that one day. Then Rick put the woman to sleep and told the boy, "go ahead, you can do anything, she's asleep" and then there is this creepy Michael Jackson song playing in the background. The woman eventually wakes up and kisses the boy. It was so weird. Then, Rick shows us a video of him playing "Tiger King" and shows all of these tigers he owns. He then tells the audience about his rescue of tigers and asks them to buy a stuffed tiger to support his mission. It sounded like he has a mission of "rescuing" these tigers from other places in the world and bringing them to live with him and act on stage. So freaking weird and dated. Not to mention all of the birds he used during his performance. And if this wasn't enough, he basically spends 1/2 the time on stage, dancing and grouping his dancers, who are basically half naked. It was awful. We booed (when he was talking about the animals) and ran away at intermission. Truly disturbing. Don't waste your time or money.

There is something desperately disturbing about this individual. The information in the review is incorrect and spiteful for some reason. What a shame... As entertainers, we often encounter those who seem distant in their attempts to describe what they’ve seen. I will genuinely share my heartfelt thoughts about the first half of the performance you attended, and it’s unfortunate that you chose to leave before experiencing it in its entirety. If you misunderstood what was presented, I can’t be held responsible for that. However, my intention here is not to boast—I have been deeply blessed in my career and have achieved success in ways that simply do not align with your perspective. First and foremost, I take great pride in celebrating my tenth season in Branson, Missouri, where I’ve been honored as Entertainer of the Year. For those who are familiar, Branson is renowned as one of the most family-friendly entertainment destinations. Even your comments about the exquisite costumes worn by my cast truly leave me perplexed as it is not the case. Yes, I did headline my show in Las Vegas for 15 consecutive years. However, what many don’t realize is that it became the most successful family-friendly production in Vegas history—family-friendly being the key phrase. Now, regarding the animals—what on earth are you talking about? During the show, I clearly shared with the audience how, although I once included tigers in my performances, I ultimately removed them and placed them in a beautiful wildlife sanctuary. To support conservation efforts, we offer small plush tigers as a way to contribute to the protection of animals in the wild. These claims you’ve made are completely unfounded—I do not own any tigers. Frankly, it’s not even worth addressing comments that stray so far from reality. As for children, they are the heart and soul of my work. In every performance, I emphasize the importance of dreaming big and turning those dreams into reality—because nothing happens unless you dare to dream. Our children today have been so challenged as to what to believe and think. I am attempting to do my part to strengthen family values. You even described a Michael Jackson song as creepy… what? For those reading this, I encourage you to simply compare this comment to countless others that reflect the true experience of the audience. It is abundantly clear that Kelly Winter’s perception of the show was vastly different from the reality witnessed by everyone else. And for that, I can only express my deepest regrets.
