Overview

Indy Walking Tours is a guided 90 minute comprehensive walking tour through the city streets of Indianapolis.
Our easy stroll through the city streets of Indianapolis will cover the:
Indiana War Memorial Historic District, Mass Ave, the Wholesale District, City Market, the Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument and various interesting points in between.
In addition to learning about the rich history of Indianapolis, you'll also hear a story of local true crime, funny anecdotes, little known folklore, the inspirations and meanings behind historical statues, architecture and monuments, and more.
Be sure to wear comfy walking shoes as our walk will cover 1.5 miles.
This is the most comprehensive and interesting tour in Indy and a fun activity for all ages.

What To Expect

Monument Circle

We will stop at many sights on the circle.

Indianapolis City Market

About halfway through the tour, we will take a short break at Indy City Market where you can use the restroom and grab and drink or snack. Because Indianapolis is an open container city, you will be permitted to order a beer at Tomlinson Taproom and take it with you on the rest of our journey.

Indiana War Memorial

You will learn about the rich history of Indiana and our part in WWI.

The Murat Theatre at the Old National Centre

Scottish Rite entertainment theater.

Christ Church Cathedral

Oldest church on Monument Circle. We'll stop by many many more locations. This list is not the entire tour.

Fun and informative tour in downtown. Was easy to find the meeting spot. Halfway through the tour, we took a bathroom/beverage break at the Tavern on the Point, which was a nice break. All in all, enjoyed the tour and would recommend.

I am so glad we did this tour. My daughter is moving here for an internship this summer and neither of us have ever been to Indianapolis (or Indiana for that matter). There is nothing like talking to someone who loves their city to make you excited about having a few months to discover what it is like to live here. Guide was excellent - gave us a lot of information about the history of the city as well as practical recommendations for places to eat and sights to see.
