Overview

Wanted to try SCUBA diving but not yet certified? Or already certified, but have an uncertified family member or friend who is interested in giving it a try? No problem! One of our professionally trained SCUBA Instructors will teach you the basics and then take you on an introductory tour of the reef to experience the underwater world. This Introductory to SCUBA Diving course consists of 30 minutes of classroom instruction, 30 minutes of pool skills, and two open water dives off our ocean faring boat Moana Mea A‘a for an approximate total of 5 hours. Not recommended for pregnant travelers

Travelers should have a high level of physical fitness
NO evidence of dive certification is required from all divers wishing to participate in a certified dive
Minimum age is 15 years old. Additional surcharge of $50.00 applicable to ages 10-13yo.
NO altitude above 2,500 ft within 18 hours of diving.
All participants will be required to complete a health questionnaire prior to diving. Some pre-existing medical conditions (ex. asthma, heart conditions, etc) may prevent you from diving
All passenger heights MUST be provided at time of booking
All passenger weights MUST be provided at time of booking
All passenger shoe sizes MUST be provided at time of booking
Individuals must successfully pass classroom and confined portion of activity in order to proceed to ocean dive component. Refunds will not be honored for individuals who submit late medical questionnaires or who are unable to complete the activity in full.
All passengers must be able to swim in the open ocean.
No refunds will be given if health questionnaire, classroom or confined water skills are failed.

This was a great introductory Scuba class. Trixie our master diver spent the time with us to understand the basics of Scuba. We were able to test our skills in a heated pool. Kiko was our boat operator who is a very experienced diver. He was very skilled at driving the boat because on this day there were some very high waves in the sea. He took us to safe diving spot away from the weather. Trixie made sure all the equipment was set up correctly and made sure we felt comfortable in the water. I felt very safe the whole time. I intend to pursue certification after this experience.

We got caught up in the inter island quarantine as we didn’t realize we needed to retest in the islands. This company gave us a full refund even though they didn’t have to. I can’t say how much that bit of grace helped. This group clearly cares about its customers. We will be back. And we will send as many your way as possible.

It was my first time of scuba diving ever, Doug explained to me the fundamental of diving with tanks and suit, then after I practiced in the pool in place, we went to ocean with captain Kimo, he is very nice man. Doug my trainer and I dived twice. it was amazing watching creature in the deep ocean, big turtle and beautiful fishes. The way we came back Captain Kimo spent some time to watch Whale passing by the boat. I never seen Whale that close. It was one my best day on the Island. Overall I liked the Hilo Ocean Adventure team. They are very Friendly and want you have a good experience. I totally recommend. Majid
