Legends & Liars Pub Walk - hear 13 stories, one is a lie. Guess the lie and win a prize at the end. Meet at Bold City Downtown (109 E Bay St.) pub, stop mid-way at a pub and end at a pub. Each week a different theme and historical character.

My daughter and I went on the "Jacksonville Top to Bottom" downtown tour on August 5, 2021, and had a superb time. Gary, the tour leader, led us everywhere from the top floor of a newly refurbished building to the underground tunnel system that connected three big Jacksonville banks vaults in the early 1900s. He was relaxed, friendly, and very knowledgable, always willing to answer questions and share insights. The tour took close to two hours at a moderate walking pace with lots of stops to rest a minute and admire the sights. We finished with a new appreciation for the city.

I went on the River City Haunts "Legends & Liars" pub walk about a week ago, and I had an absolute blast! As a fan of history and spooky stories, I've been on my fair share of ghost tours. This one felt brand new to me, even as a resident of Jacksonville, because of its interactive element. (During the walk, 13 stories were told. Participants guessed which one involved a lie to win a prize at the end.) The tour was well-paced, and I liked that we got to stop for refreshments and bathroom breaks along the way. Whether you're visiting Jacksonville or have lived here for ages, I highly recommend signing up for this and learning something new about the Bold New City of the South!
