shay was an excellent tour guide/pilot. he gave us a great over view of Kauai. loved the views of Waimai canyon, Na Pali coast, N shore, Queen's Bath and cattle ranches. So much fun. This was the high point of my trip. I picked up a flash drive of our tour for $40. 4 cameras mounted outside the helicopter, 1 inside plus microphones recorded the entire trip so no need to photograph. 50 minute tour for $250 a piece. wonderful tour. waterfalls too numerous to count.

Very bad experience with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters in Kauai. We were so excited to go to Hawaii. We made a decision to take a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters in Kauai. We booked our helicopter trip from Toronto two months in advance. My husband made sure to ask all the questions and also requested front seats. They asked for our weights. They said the passengers on the helicopter will be seated according to their weight but they will book front seats for us.They also advised us to wear dark clothing only as light clothing or print will reflect from the window and ruin pictures for us and all other passengers on the helicopter. When we arrived they weight us on their scale. My husband asked if we are getting front seats and we were told 'yes'. After we had a safety presentation. We were assigned numbers where we will sit in the helicopter. To our shock we were placed in back seats. In front of me was sitting a male passenger more than 6 feet tall wearing white shorts and and colour printed shirt. My husband and I we were told when we arrived we should purchase their black t-shirts because our clothes was not dark enough. We were wearing black pants and dark blue shirts. Because we did not want to inconvenience anyone we purchased their t-shirts. Needles to say, on the helicopter ride, we were not able to take pictures because of the reflection of white shorts of the male passenger sitting in front of me and his printed shirt plus he was very tall and I was not able to see anything in from of me because I was sitting behind him. When the helicopter ride was finished we complained and they said they 'can not force anyone what they are suppose to wear'. When we said we were told we will get front seats the lady calculated our weights and said there was a difference of '10 pounds' between 3 people sitting in front seats and 4 people sitting in back seats. They also commented they take into account how much fuel is left in the helicopter. Later, when I was writing review from their computer they came to us and offered us 10% off the price we already paid. We declined. They offered us their corporate video which we did take since we did not see a lot what we could. Also, there were 4 different helicopters starting at the same time so we are sure if the 10 pounds was such a huge problem for helicopter they could put us on one of the other 3 helicopters. After the fact, we asked the other helicopter company - Sunshine Helicopters right in Kauai, and they said that you can pay 'premium' for front seats and than they are guaranteed to you. They did not say anything about weight to be primary issue. We were not told this by Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. Kauai is a beautiful island and it is so worth to see it with a helicopter ride. But, if we will know that we will not get front seats we will definitely book with some other company or book a helicopter just for us with a pilot. Do your research before you go [as we definitely tried to do] so you have experience of your lifetime as you deserve.

We had done a Blue Hawaiian tour on the Big Island and were disappointed (see review). This is the same company with the same high quality everything - staff, safety, organization, aircraft, pilots. Everything was first rate. This time the ride was amazing. Waterfalls; steep green valleys; close up approaches to the craggy canyon sides; variety of scenery; whales; the wettest place on earth plus "da plane, da plane" twin waterfalls. I highly recommend the Eco-tour helicopter ride that lasts about 50 minutes. Blue Hawaiian - you redeemed yourselves here in Kaua'i. Outstanding and memorable.
