Wow, what a blast! Scooters open up whole new possibilities. Nen did a great job of explaining the main points and then getting us in the water at full throttle. Again (like last year) just the two of us. A new spot for me, Stone House - Sandy expanse broken up with huge rock and intack coral and the associated small aquarium fish in the hundreds. Eel, conch, and a crown of thorns eating on an ancient coral shelf. Some big eyed scad, but nothing like the tens of thousand of last year.
Scooters are a hoot and easy to get comfortable with. These were between the leg saddle style and were super cool and very fast. When you get of and stow them it feels like you are not moving anymore. Normal SCUBA speed is the new crawl.
Second dive is to Sheraton Caverns. Had it all to our human selves, but there were at least twenty turtles in various stages of CHILL. Some the size of small garbage can lid and one the biggest I've seen. Bigger than a coffee table (sleeping). The caverns take on a magical presence when diving the swim-threws without others around. Great dive to superman at full speed (4 mph) all the way back through the interesting terrain. Koloa Landing was gritty with runoff, but the visibility cleared to classic Hawaii a short distance out.
They now offer go-pro video. It was a great time to get a look at everything without buying my own camera, so Yes I bought the video's. The grandkids are going to love it. Poppa is just like James Bond!
